Privacy policy

This policy covers the Brimwise app for iPhone and Mac, and the website at brimwise.app. Both are published by TwoPlus1 Limited.
- We do not receive your Brimwise data
- There is no Brimwise server and no account. Everything you log stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
- There is no analytics or crash reporting
- The app contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK and no third-party tracking code of any kind.
- This website sets no cookies
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels. The typeface is served from this site rather than a font network.
The app
Your vehicles, fill-ups, trips and any notes you add are stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, they also sync through your own iCloud private database, which is part of your Apple Account and counts against your iCloud storage.
A private database is not readable by the developer of an app. TwoPlus1 Limited cannot see your data, cannot export it, and could not produce it if asked to. We are not able to act as a controller of information we have no means of reaching.
Your use of iCloud is governed by your own agreement with Apple. Deleting the app removes its local data, and you can remove the synced copy at any time through iCloud settings on your device.
Brimwise does not ask for your name, email address, or account of any kind. It does not use your location, your contacts, or your photos unless you attach a receipt image yourself, and any image you attach is stored the same way as everything else — on your device and in your own iCloud.
If Brimwise is released on the App Store
Apple would then provide us with the ordinary aggregate figures every developer receives, such as download and territory totals. These are statistics, not records about identifiable people, and they reach us already aggregated. Apple's own handling of your Apple Account is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
This website
brimwise.app is a set of static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub records technical request data — including your IP address, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string — in its server logs, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not have access to individual-level logs, and we do not add any tracking of our own.
Where that constitutes processing of personal data, our lawful basis is legitimate interests: making the site available and keeping it secure. GitHub, Inc. acts as our hosting provider. See GitHub's own privacy documentation for how it handles that data.
If you contact support
When you email support@brimwise.app, we necessarily receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it only to answer you. Support correspondence is handled in our service desk system, which is operated by TwoPlus1 Limited and hosted in the United Kingdom.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to a request you have made of us. We keep support correspondence for 24 months, after which it is deleted. Please do not send us anything sensitive — we do not need it in order to help with a fuel logging app.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to ask us for a copy of personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form. In practice the only personal data we are ever likely to hold is support correspondence.
To exercise any of these, email support@brimwise.app. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Brimwise is a tool for people who run a vehicle. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about them — which, given we collect nothing about anyone, follows.
Changes
If Brimwise ever starts collecting something, this policy will say so before it does, and the date at the top will change. We would rather change the policy than quietly widen it.
